Zippo needs our help!!!

Poor Zippo had crash landed on earth and he could't get home! He has asked Year 1 to help him. We thought of lots of different ways in which we could get him back to the moon. He thought about making him a new rocket, putting him in a cannon or even bouncing him on a huge spring. Eventually, after lots of discussion we thought we could throw him back to the moon instead! We didn't know how far we were able to throw, so we decided we needed to find out how far we could throw. We all went outside and measured how far we could throw. Our longest shot was 13m 41cm but as the moon is about 384399861m's away we found out that we couldn't throw him back after all!

Handa's Surprise

In literacy this half term we are looking at a story that was based in Kenya. We have been retelling the story, creating masks and trying lots of different fruit. We have tried a mango, pineapple, guava and an avocado. Next we wrote sentences using adjectives to describe what the fruit tasted like. Take a look at some of the fantastic faces when trying the new fruits.
